Certina DS2 Chronolympic with Manual Caliber
In 1970 Certina sponsored a five man expedition to Mount Everest. Each climber ascended wearing DS-2 Chronolympic watches. One the climbers called Yuichiro Miura upon reaching the summit decided to ski down and in 2 minutes he descended 6600 feet reaching speeds of 160 km/h. His run was cut short because after 2 minutes he lost control and fell 1320 feet all while wearing the DS-2. This ski-down from the top of the world is documented in the Oscar winning documentary titled “ The Man Who Skied Down Everest.” Miura's DS-2 survived and the climbers later praised the Chronolympic's saying that it had met all their demands.
